“Stars of today…Leaders of tomorrow!”

Now in its 45th consecutive season, the Louisville Youth Choir (LYC) is home to six ensembles. As a community-based organization, LYC now draws more than 100 children, youth, and adults, ages 6-53 from over 60 schools and diverse neighborhoods throughout the metropolitan area and six counties in Kentucky – from old Louisville to outside of Lexington. LYC’s music repertoire includes many styles and cultures, including major classic and modern works with orchestra and soloists. LYC offers a choral music experience unique in the region.

Auditions

Come be a part of the area’s finest in musical ensembles for singers in grades 4-12.

Open Auditions are held seasonally and are now being scheduled.

*Private auditions are can be scheduled, and are welcomed, at any point during the LYC season.

Audition Preparation
Singers in the 4th-12th grades who audition for membership in The Louisville Youth Choir should be prepared to perform the following for the audition: sing scales to determine the singer’s vocal range, sing with music and accompaniment My Country ‘Tis of Thee, and clap rhythm patterns by reading a musical line and/or by repeating rhythmic patterns that are clapped for them (echo clapping.)
