1.  Primary Singers Winter/Spring Session–It’s Not Too Late!:   LYC is currently accepting enrollments for the Winter/Spring session of Primary Singers which began LAST TUESDAY, February 14, 2012.  This non-auditioned group for 1st-3rd grade singers meets for 10 weeks on Tuesday evenings from 5:15-6:15 and these singers will perform on the annual Pops Concert which will take place on Sunday, April 29 at 7PM at the W.L. Lyons Brown Theatre.  The tuition of $175 includes enrollment, materials, performance wear and one ticket to the Pops Concert.  Enrollment forms can be found on the LYC website at www.louyouthchoir.org–click on the “Forms” button in the “Enrollment” section. 

 

 

 

2.  Keyboarding for Singers:   It is not too late to join the Keyboarding for Singers class being offered by Sacred Heart School for the Arts for LYC singers!  The hour-long instruction on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00PM on building singing and sight reading skills by learning basic keyboarding skills. Contact SHSA at 502.897.1816 to register!

 

 

 

3.  Power2Give & LYC UPDATE–ONLY 11 Days Left to Participate in LYC’s Current Projects:   Thanks to everyone who has made a donation to LYC via Power2Give!  Please be sure to continue to remind your contacts that LYC still has two projects to fund on this website (www.power2give.org).  Only 11 days remain for LYC’s projects to remain posted to the Power2Give website…let’s spread the word via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail and fund these important LYC projects! Link to LYC projects–http://www.power2give.org/kentucky/Project/SearchProjects.  No Song Unsung is 24% funded and Pick a Key and We’ll Sing is 18% funded.  No gift is too small…or too large and there is currently a dollar for dollar match for Power2Give gifts so log on today and double your money for LYC! 

 

 

 

4.  Pops Concert UPDATE:  This Year’s Pops Concert will be An Evening of Oz-some Music and will feature music selections from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz and Wicked.  On Tuesday, February 21st, a song assignments list will be provided to the following singers who have been selected to sing solos and ensembles for this year’s Pops Concert (a rehearsal schedule will be distributed at a later date for these solo and ensemble singers):  Madeline Coffey, Taylor Dant, Naomi Dennison, Elias Eells, Ellen Emerson, Sarita Gustely, Toni Marie Harris, DeAirice Hobbs, Nicole Keenan, Joseph Kingsbury, Bella Letson Ettin, Patty McGuire, Anna Medley, Madeline Plumley, Ben Ragsdell, Haley Ragsdell, Jairen Ritter, Kaitlin Sanders, Ruthie Sangster, Justice Sarver, Emma Scott, Caroline Siegrist, Emily Steinbach, Josh Steinbach, Cassidy Sweeney, Hannah Thomas, Emma Walker, Emily Wessel, and Emily Woodruff. 

 

 

 

5.  Performance Opportunity for All LYC Singers in Lyric, Descant, Chamber & Aria Choirs:  LYC has been invited to be the children’s chorus for Music Theatre of Louisville’s (MTL) summer production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat .  If you are an LYC singer in Lyric, Descant, Chamber or Aria choir, you DO NOT have to do a separate audition for MTL to be in the show…as a member of LYC, you are automatically in!  At this time we are waiting to receive rehearsal dates and performance details so more will follow for this additional, optional performance opportunity as it comes available to LYC!

 

 

 

6.  Save the Date – Thursday, April 19, 2012:  LYC has been invited to provide music for the community-wide Holocaust commemoration that will take place on Thursday, April 19th.  LYC is still waiting on specific details for singers that will be provided by the event organizers–at this time, only the date has been communicated with the invitation.  Please save this evening on your calendars and more information will follow soon!
